About me
Juliana Hughes is an English Language Development (ELD) teacher at Dover Hill Elementary and South Middle School in Joplin Schools. She serves as co-chair of the district's AI Committee and is a member of the Joplin Professional Development Team. Prior to teaching ELD, she spent seven years in Special Education, developing a strong foundation in supporting diverse learners. Each summer, Juliana teaches a specialized Language Camp for newcomer students in grades 9–12 at Joplin High School, helping recently arrived multilingual learners build English proficiency and confidence. Outside of the classroom, she serves as a Youth Mentor for the Refugee and Immigrant Services & Education (RAISE) nonprofit in Jasper County, supporting refugee and immigrant youth as they build connections and thrive in their new community.
